Yes, Sony is delisting movies and no you can’t still watch them

Sony’s licensing deal with StudioCanal has come to an end and with it comes a litany of films and TV shows that Sony sold on their digital storefront. While most gamers have felt the safety of not having a big corp reach in and pull the product out of your library, the same can’t be said for film watchers.

With this deal ending, Sony has warned people who have purchased projects from the studio like Sharknado, Sleepy Hollow, Terminator 2: Judgement Day, and more that they will lose access to the thing they paid for.

The closest thing this reminds me of in terms of gaming—beyond something like Concord, but that properly shut down—is P.T., the playable teaser of Silent Hills, the next game that Hideo Kojima was working on before parting ways with Konami and shifting gears to Death Stranding.

The story basically goes like this; Konami had some poor soul reach out to PlayStation demanding that players who redeemed the—free—demo couldn’t redownload it if they uninstalled it. That rubbed me the wrong way and has always reminded me how important physical products are.
